Bring your PE expertise to a primary school —

About Switch Mentoring
Switch Mentoring is a Bristol-based community organisation empowering people to reach their potential. Alongside our mentoring work, we run physical literacy, multi-sport and PE provision in primary schools across the region, giving children high-quality, inclusive sport sessions delivered by qualified staff.
The Role
We’re looking for a qualified PE teacher or coach to deliver curriculum and extra-curricular PE in a Bristol primary school. You’ll lead lessons that build movement, confidence and enjoyment in 5–11 year olds — and have the autonomy to shape sessions in line with your strengths.
This is a part-time, 10 hours per week role designed to fit alongside the rest of your life. It’s an ideal fit for semi-retired teachers, professionals returning from a career break, or anyone building a portfolio career across multiple roles. If you’d like more hours, the role can be combined with our Youth Mentor role — we’re happy to talk about how to build the right package.

- Proven experience teaching or coaching primary-aged children (5–11)
- Strong classroom and behaviour management — calm, fair and engaging

- Reliable transport to and from school
Desirable
- Experience designing a primary PE curriculum or scheme of work
- Specialism in one or more sports you can build a strong unit around
- First aid and any sport-specific safety qualifications
- Experience running extra-curricular clubs, school competitions or sports days

- Maintain safe, inclusive and well-organised practical sessions
- Work alongside the school PE lead and class teachers to fit with the wider curriculum
